A Message from the Mayor....February 2010
COMING SOON: Our first car and motorcycle show will be held April 24, 2010, Saturday 10:00am -2:00pm. Location: Exit 3 or Exit 5 on Hwy 80/Greenwood Rd. at William Peters Town Park in Greenwood, La. All proceeds go to the Veterans Memorial Monument Fund. There is a $10 fee to register your car or motorcycle. Registration is the day of the show. Contact Veronica Brown 938-7261 for more information. Hope to see you there!
I am asking all residents of Greenwood and surrounding areas to “stand up and be counted” during the 2010 Census. You will soon receive a census form in the mail to complete and return. The form is very short and easy to fill out. Please do your part as it is very important that every citizen in the country is counted.
I was invited to the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Watkins Reflection Pool & Garden at the American Rose Center February 1, 2010. Construction is to begin immediately and is expected to be complete by June 2010. If you haven’t been to the Rose Center recently, you need to go. The grounds are beautiful.
DO YOU KNOW: It takes 1,851 gallons of water to refine one barrel of crude oil.
A clothing donation drop box for the Providence House is located next to Time & Chime Shoppe at Hwy 80 and Howell Street. Please drop off children’s and adult clothing, shoes, etc. I know it would be much appreciated.
We are making preparations for the Farmers Market. We need all the volunteers we can get to make it a success. Can you help? Let us know at 938 7261. More information to follow.
